Packaging software for Linux is a real challenge, and we've spent a lot of time researching and testing methods to make this as clean as possible.  We now have it distilled down to an rpm and a tarball that contains the necessary files and they must be installed before the application.  You can use the rpm or the tarball,the * is used in the file names to indicate that the rest of the file name is mutable and not applicable to the information you care about.

For OSX, starting with DA 4.2, unixODBC is required to be installed in /usr/local/unixODBC, in order for the product to work.  DA 4.2 is not using iODBC due to some UNICODE issues, in the OSX shiped version of those libs.
